PeterJStein Sings: MY MUSIC CLIPS
Somebody's Lover
(Peter J Stein)
October 10, 2008
Written, arranged, performed, and produced by Peter J Stein
As with all of my songs, this one is constructed from an amalgam of fragments of melodic phrases and lyrical segments, accumulated over a lifetime, and spontaneously accessed during anticipated pre-studio moments, and finally made whole in the studio, by the pressure of necessity.
Somebody’s Lover, By Peter J Stein, Sept, 2008
What would you think if you learned of a way,
To lift yourself up from your sadness,
Desperate people seek to worship and pray,
On a road with nowhere to go, On a road that’s so far from home.
What do you feel about people who care,
In their selfless attempts to help others,
When there’s no guarantee of any justice that’s fair,
On a road a promise is spoken, a narrow road where dreams may be broken,
Takes a lot of courage to live in this world,
And there’s no easy way to discover,
What ya need to know just to figure it out,
That you want to depend on each other,
What it means to love somebody else,
What it means to be somebody’s lover,
Just another day as the sun starts to rise,
Time can fly by oh so quickly,
Both the Love and the Fear I can see in your eyes,
On a road with nowhere to go, on a road where nobody knows you,
There’s not that much time that I have with you now,
We may not be here that long together,
But the best I can do are the words in this song,
Don’t take it wrong when you soon discover,
That it’s hard to love somebody else,
It’s so hard to be somebody’s lover,
Just another day back in 2001,
When so many were lost in the Towers,
Mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, or son,
On a road without a tomorrow, on a road paved with sadness and sorrow,
Now ya gotta be strong in the eye of a storm,
Cause the wind and the rain leave you battered,
Now this too shall pass, it’s said that all flesh is grass,
And you’ll know only one thing will matter,
Is your love for somebody else,
Ahhh give your love to someone who’s sadder,
Give your love to somebody else,
Give your love to someone who's sadder, (repeat and fade)
